April 30 PARENT Volunteers

This volunteer signup is for PARENTS/GUARDIANS only for Tuesday April 30. Please sign up under your own name, not your students name.
Children of volunteers will be automatically added to the roster.
All remaining spots will then go to lottery winners.
Please note that if you are unable to attend as a volunteer, to keep it fair, student participants will also be unable to attend.

Brick Builder Club Rules and Information

We’re thrilled to announce some exciting changes to our beloved Brick-Builder Club. In an effort to make the process more accessible, fair, and inclusive, we’ve made adjustments that we believe will enhance the experience for everyone involved.

Instead of a first-come, first-served basis, we are moving to a lottery system. Starting immediately, parents can now sign up their Jefferson students in grades K-4 at any time using the form below. This form only needs to be filled out once and enters all of the students in your family into the lottery.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Three-Week Segments: Brick-Builder Club will now be organized into 3-week segments through June. Club meetings will continue to be held every Tuesday after school until 4:00 pm.
  2. Lottery System:  After each 3-week segment, we will hold a lottery for the next segment’s participants. This ensures equal opportunities for all interested students. We are using a fair and unbiased drawing system that you can read about here: https://www.randompicker.com/trusted-platform/
  3. Live Drawing: Starting Sunday, March 17 at 7:00 pm, selections will be made through a live drawing in a google meet. The drawing results will be posted later for those who may have missed it. After that, drawings will be held every 3 weeks.
  4. One Entry Per Family: Families are encouraged to sign up their child for Brick-Builder Club, and if selected, siblings can attend as well, saving parents from multiple trips at pickup. Each family is limited to one entry per drawing and you cannot sign up children from other families.
  5. Volunteer Opportunity: If you’d like to volunteer, your child can still participate in Brick-Builder Club on all club days you volunteer for, regardless of segment. All remaining spots will then go to the lottery participants. We thank these volunteers for their time to make the club successful. Volunteers can sign up on a week-by-week basis.  If a volunteer can not make their time slot, to keep things fair, their lego participants will also not be able to attend.
  6. Rotational System: To maximize inclusivity, students who attended the first 3 weeks cannot participate in the subsequent segment, ensuring a variety of participants.
  7. Wait List: At this time, we will not be offering a wait list. The logistics of handling this are time-consuming for the PTO and for school staff. Last minute additions and deletions are difficult to convey and may confuse students. Safety is our top priority in getting everyone where they need to go.
  8. What to bring: The PTO has purchased plenty of legos and we have had several donations from generous families of legos so the kids do not need to bring anything.
  9. Pickups: Pickups will be inside the Ford Ave. entrance at 4:00 pm. All Y-care kids will be returned to Y-Care. Children who have Faith Formation on Tuesdays will be walked to the Church at 3:55 by a volunteer.
  10. Communication: Please make sure to send a note into your child’s teacher on lego days to let them know the child will be attending.
  11. Absences and or Pickup Changes: If your child is absent or leaves early on the day of brick-builder club, it is critical that you email Mrs. Pray at cpray@schalmont.net, Julie Dion julie@jeffersonelementarypto.com and your child’s teacher. This is to ensure we aren’t missing your child and so that we can ensure they go home with the correct person.

This new system will guarantee that every child has the opportunity to be selected for Brick-Builder Club at least once. We believe these changes will create a fair and enjoyable experience for all students. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing your child’s creativity shine!
